A joint meeting was held at the Bar Association Headquarters in Khartoum between the Sudanese Bar Association and the African Center for Governance, Peace, and Transformation Studies. Dr. Mahmoud Zain Al-Abedin, Director of the African Center, commended the noble efforts and endeavors undertaken by the Bar Association in advocating for the nation in international and regional forums, as well as supporting national post-war recovery and reconstruction efforts. He expressed his pleasure at the remarkable reconstruction work underway at the Bar Association’s premises. Dr. Zain Al-Abedin thanked the Bar Association for participating in the Center’s previous activities, expressing the Center’s aspiration to build a strategic partnership with the Bar Association as Sudan’s largest civil society institution. For his part, Mr. Zain Al-Abedin Mohamed Hamad, President of the Sudanese Bar Association, welcomed the African Center’s delegation to the Bar Association Headquarters. He praised the Center’s national role in building knowledge and skills in human rights, governance, recovery, and humanitarian response. Both parties agreed to collaborate on human rights issues, enhance civil society capacity building, coordinate in relevant regional forums, and support national efforts in recovery and reconstruction. The meeting was attended by Mr. Jamal Al-Din Al-Nujoumi, Head of the Human Rights Committee at the Bar Association; Dr. Moaz Hussein, Sudanese-Canadian expert, Director of the Sudanese Civil Coalition, and Consultant to the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in New York; human rights expert and former President of the Bar Association, Mr. Al-Tayeb Haroun Ali; Dr. Omer Al-Sayyid, national expert and Academic Affairs Advisor to the Bar Association; and Mr. Adil Abdelhamid, Representative of the Bar Association in Khartoum.
